La Prenda was created with Ranu Mukherjee for the group show Winkle at BANK space, Underwood Street, London, May 1997. A mock nganga (a ritual cauldron used in the Cuban religion Palo Mayombe) was installed in pitch darkness in a shack built from scrap materials gathered in the area of the gallery, and mounted on a slowly rotating plinth.

Visitors would enter the shack through a light-proof doorway at the rear of the structure. Every five seconds the nganga would be illuminated by the flash of a strobe light, it’s position slightly altered each time. The construction of the nganga formed the basis for Mumbo Jumbo an experimental video based on the story of the Mexican Narcosatánicos cult who used an nganga in their rituals.
