
Egg tempera painting made for the national touring show Outrageous Fortune: Artists Re-Make the Tarot curated by Andrew Hunt at Focal Point Gallery, Southend, July – August 2011. It is based on Pamela Colman Smith’s design for the Rider-Wait Tarot deck and shows an image of the house, Parc Garland, that she retired too on Lizard Point, Cornwall in 1915.

Pamela Colman Smith was a central figure in the British occult revival at the turn of the last century, a women’s suffrage activist, and the author and illustrator of books on Jamaican folklore. She died in poverty in Bude, Cornwall in 1951.
